PD Mathias Tremp, MD

Zurich and Basel

After studying medicine in Zurich, I completed various stations in general surgery in Chur and Zurich, followed by several years of research activity at the University Hospital Zurich and Basel. In 2011, I was allowed to start my further training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the University Hospital Basel.

Asia and America

During and after my residency I visited renowned centers in Asia (9th People’s Hospital in Shanghai, Singapore General Hospital (SGH)), Europe, Egypt and America (Massachusetts General Hospital, Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute) and was able to further develop my skills especially in the field of facial surgery, breast surgery and body tightening procedures.

University Hospital Basel and University of Basel

From 2016 – 2019, I was a senior physician at the University Hospital Basel and co-coordinator of the Skin Tumour Centre. Since March 2020, I have also been working as a private lecturer (PD) at the University of Basel in the field of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

Breast and facial surgery, liposculpture and body firming procedures.

My personal interest lies in aesthetic (endoscopic) breast and facial surgery, liposculptures (high-definition liposuctions) combined with fat grafting, as well as body contouring procedures rsp. tightening surgeries such as Mommy Makeover, i.e. the restoration of the body after the consequences of pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. I was able to learn the techniques from renowned plastic surgeons such as Dr. Rod J. Rohrich (USA), Prof. Hossam Foda (EGY), Dr. Enrico Robotti (IT), Dr. Ruben Guilarte (SP), Dr. Yves Saban (FR), Dr. Dino Elyassnia (USA), Dr. Alfredo Hoyos (COL), Dr. Alexander Aslani (ESP), Dr . Markus Klöppel (D), Dr . Giovanni Botti (IT), Dr. Jean-François Pascal (FR), Dr. Roger K. Khouri (USA), Dr. Woffles Wu (SG), Dr. Ken Stewart (SC), and Dr. Timothy J. Marten (USA) learn.

To keep the facial skin firm and healthy, aesthetic facial treatments help to complement regular facial care. The great advantage of the so-called "minimally invasive" facial treatments is the immediate effect and low downtime.
The face is the most important identifying feature of a person. The individual facial expression (forehead, noses, eyes and mouth) is an elementary component of human communication.
The nose is not only an important sensory organ, but also a concise and central eye-catcher when communicating with other people.
In the case of larger tumours or those in anatomically delicate regions (e.g. in the eyelid, auricle, lips or nose area), excision of the tumour and direct closure of the skin is not always possible.
The breasts play an important role in femininity. A breast correction can influence a woman's body image and self-confidence.
Most women have asymmetrical breasts, which is normal from a medical point of view. Unequal sizes and shapes of the breasts as well as different sizes and positions of the nipples are common.

The body forms a breast capsule around a breast implant as a reaction to the foreign body. Normally, the capsule is thin and does not cause any discomfort. The breast feels soft and mobile.
Exercise, sport and a healthy diet are important for a shapely body silhouette. However, sometimes this is not enough to tighten certain parts of the body or get rid of stubborn fat deposits.
Stubborn fat deposits on the stomach, hips or thighs can persist despite regular exercise and a healthy diet. Liposuction offers a targeted solution for these problem areas.
Cellulite usually occurs on the thighs, buttocks and stomach. In women, it develops in the fatty tissue as dimples.
Pregnancy is a wonderful, but also physically demanding time for the female body. The body changes a lot during this time, with weight gain, stretch marks and enlarged breasts.
Intimate surgery requires attentiveness and trust. Labia reduction can be performed for medical or aesthetic reasons.
